Click It or Ticket to Boost Seat Belt Use – Day and Night

BENTON, Ark. – Motorists who refuse to wear their seat belts – beware.  The 2012 national Click It or Ticket seat belt enforcement mobilization kicks off May 21 to help save lives by cracking down on those who don’t buckle up.

Benton Police Department is joining with other state and local law enforcement officers and highway safety advocates across the country to help save more lives by strongly enforcing seat belt laws around the clock.

According to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, in 2010 nationally, 61 percent of the 10,647 passenger vehicle occupants who were killed in motor vehicle traffic crashes overnight (6 p.m. to 5:59 a.m.) were not wearing their seat belts at the time of the fatal crash, compared to 42 percent during the daytime hours.

Little Rock Fashion Week Announces 2012 Model Search

By Alexandria Washington

LITTLE ROCK – Little Rock Fashion Week is back again to heat up the runways July 16-21. After much success last summer, Brandon D. Campbell, creator and executive producer of LRFW, and staff are ready to roll out the red carpet on its fourth year.

"I’m extremely excited about Little Rock Fashion Week 2012. There’s something magical about this year. I can sense that LRFW will be even greater than previous years,” said Campbell. “People have spoke positively about LRFW and have supported our functions throughout the year. Ever since we wrapped LRFW 2011, last July, I’ve been contacted weekly by models wanting to be in LRFW 2012. That speaks volumes of LRFW’s significance and the amount of love that people have for our industry. I’m grateful.”

AARP joins food drive to 'Stamp Out Hunger'

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AARP Press Release) - To tackle the serious issue of hunger faced by millions of older adults, AARP and AARP Foundation announced that on Sat., May 12, they are joining the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) and the U.S. Postal Service's 20th annual food drive to help "Stamp Out Hunger."

On the second Saturday in May each year, in America's largest single day food drive, known officially as Stamp Out Hunger, letter carriers across the country pick up bags of non-perishable food products left for them by households on their usual routes-and deliver those donations to local food banks and pantries, such as the Arkansas Foodbank in central Arkansas and other member food banks of the Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance. To encourage food donations, AARP and AARP Foundation donated food collection bags for distribution in Arkansas.
